How to care for an oiled oak table

Ten minutes, twice a year: everything you need to keep a hardwax oil finish looking new.

Every day

Wipe spills with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry the surface straight after. Skip multi-purpose sprays: most contain solvents that slowly strip the oil from the wood.

Twice a year

Wash the top with a few drops of natural soap in warm water and let it dry for an hour. Rub in a thin layer of the maintenance oil that came with your table, leave it for fifteen minutes, then buff away whatever the wood has not taken in.

When something goes wrong

Water rings usually fade after a light pass with 240-grit paper and a fresh coat of oil. Deeper marks are rarely beyond repair. Send us a photo and we will tell you exactly what to do, or collect the piece and fix it in the workshop.
